Srinagar, Jun 10 (KNO): Lieutenant Governor (LG) of Jammu and Kashmir Manoj Sinha Thursday said that the Union Territory (UT) has come out of the era when educational institutes used to remain closed for months. Addressing the students here in Delhi Public School (DPS) Srinagar, Sinha said, “Jammu and Kashmir has come out of the era when the schools used to remain closed 100-150 days.” According to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), LG on the occasion said, “I want the students to tell their patients that the era of school closures shall not come again. We will also try to make such an environment.” Sinha said, “The redefining of the education system concept by PM Narendra Modi throughout the country is a very positive attempt to bring all key elements in it, be it a mother language, culture, skill development and all other aspects.” He said, “Not only this, PM Modi has given us a way to experiment in classrooms, exploring innovative ideas and creating scientific temperaments among the students.” Sinha said that instead of rote learning, there is a need to lay more focus on the independent research and innovations of our students for their better development. He further said that education awakens the mind, instills curiosity in the students and ignites critical thinking, scientific temper and creativity. “It nurtures their unique personality. Children are the future of our nation and they need to learn skills that will prepare them for the real world.” “Our focus is to make education a powerful medium for independent research, growth of independent ideas and the classrooms to be a place where dreams and aspirations are born,” Sinha said. The LG further said that the teachers' job is not to complete the syllabus only but to hone the creativity of the children and to transform the journey of learning into creativity in a joyful manner—(KNO)
